'The Big Chair is Back' contest returns to The Depot

As sure as robins return in spring, East Dundee's big Adirondack chair is returning to the Depot on River Street, signaling the beginning of "The Big Chair is Back" Facebook contest April 14-21.

During that time, visitors are encouraged to win prizes by snapping a selfie or a photo of their favorite buddy or buddies while sitting in the village's supersized red chair and posting it on East Dundee's Facebook page.

The 9-foot chair is designed to be the perfect backdrop for a memorable (and prize winning) photo.

Initially introduced last year, the Big Red Chair proved popular, according to the village's special events manager, Erin Weingar. "People continued to enjoy it throughout the season. We decided to bring it back again because it added another dimension to our special events. This year we've created a Facebook contest that adds a bit of fun and a chance to win some great prizes."

"Big Chair" photos must be posted to the Village of East Dundee's Facebook page. Once posted, they'll be entered into a blind drawing for that day - with one prize awarded per day for seven days.

Prizes include ice cream treats, beauty products; dental services; auto detailing; chocolates; memberships and gift cards to area businesses, pubs and eateries. This year's participating businesses include: Able Pawners & Jewelers; Anvil Club; Paintball Explosion; River Street Tavern; Wendy's on Route 25; Dundee Manor Restaurant; NEU Family Dental; Domino's; Spring Hill Auto Body; Bomba Grill; Expressions Hair Salon; Benedict's; Dairy Queen; Barb's Studio 104; Taqueria Los Cocos; Rent-A-Center; and The Uncommon Palate.

"We're always encouraging people to visit and explore our town," said village president Lael Miller. "Once they're here they'll see that it's a community filled with small town charm and great places to shop, eat and relax. We know that whether someone's a first time visitor or a regular, once they've experienced East Dundee, they'll keep coming back to explore all it has to offer."

Facebook contest runs Friday, April 14 through Friday, April 21. Participants can be entered into the daily drawing by posting a new photo or reposting a previous photo - limit one prize per household.
