Mount Prospect District 57 hires new Lions Park School principal

Mount Prospect School District 57 has hired a principal for Lions Park School to replace a retiring longtime educator.

School board members last week approved hiring Katie Kelly, who's currently the principal of Field Elementary School in Park Ridge Niles District 64, as the school's new principal effective in August. Kelly will replace Kris Gritzmacher, who is retiring after 18 years at the school.

"She's a well-rounded educator who has been a leader on many school and district educational initiatives, plus she has classroom experience in all of the grades that Lions Park serves," Superintendent Elaine Aumiller said.

Kelly was also an assistant principal at Field Elementary School and has taught second, fourth and fifth grades.
