Learn about 'Natural Egg Dyeing' at Elgin Public Museum
Come to Lords Park on Saturday, April 15, for "Natural Egg Dyeing"
Participants will use a variety of natural dyes such as onion skins, turmeric, beets, blueberries and much more.
This technique comes from Native American and pioneer days when chemical dyes and the food coloring were not available. Use modern techniques such as crayons and rubber bands to complete amazing designs!
Explore the museum while the eggs are drying. Recipes of the dyes are provided so you can try natural egg dyeing at home.
Natural egg dyeing runs from noon to 2 p.m. at the Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd in Lords Park. No registration is required as this is a drop-in program. Cost is $2 for two eggs.
For details, contact the museum at (847) 741-6655 or Francesca_epm@cityofelgin.org. Visit www.elginpublicmuseum.org.
