At Work teams take on Foodie 5K
When's the last time you ran or walked 3.1 miles?
For some of the Fittest Loser participants, it was on April 1 at Cantigny Park in Wheaton.
The race was on a beautiful morning with plenty of sunshine after days of dreary clouds and rain.
Blythe Marinelli, team captain of Heavy Hitters from The Salvation Army Central Territory, shared her 5K wisdom, "You gotta run at the start line and then run across the finish line and what happens in between, stays in between!"
The Northern Illinois Food Bank provided a few complimentary passes to the Cantigny Park Foodie 5K, and a discount to all Fittest Loser participants. Officials with the Geneva-based Northern Illinois Food Bank said the race raised at least $91,000 to support its mission of providing food on a wholesale basis to 800 food pantries across Northern Illinois.
More Foodie 5K fundraisers will be held May 13 at Independence Grove in Libertyville and Sept. 9 in Romeoville. For details, see nifb.convio.net.
