Why no advance communication?

Congressman Hultgren, why are you afraid to meet with your constituents? Voters have been at your office in Campton Hills every week to request a town-hall meeting with you to discuss a variety of issues.

From what I have been able to research on the internet, you have not had a town hall with your constituents since 2011. Why not?

You appear to desire to fly low under the radar when it comes to communication. You use your newsletter to control your message to avoid being too specific on issues. The reason I say this is because I have sent you several emails with specific questions. What I received in reply were what appeared to be general form letter responses that avoided direct answers to my questions. I also called your Washington office directly. I asked if you were planning any town hall meetings anytime soon. I was told this was in the works, and your newsletter would provide information about future opportunities for voters to meet with you.

Well, I just read my latest Randy Hultgren Newsletter and guess what? It stated you had been in the district and had met with seniors at Heritage Woods in Batavia as well as The Greater Elgin Family Health Care Center and an American Legion Group. Why no advanced communication about these planned visits? Is it because these meetings allow you to control the message and provide a nice photo opportunity? Again, why are you afraid to have an open dialogue good old-fashioned-town-hall meeting? Isn't that what democracy is about? Don't you owe it to the people your represent - the people who sent you to Washington?
