Top post at Muncie Street Department remains vacant
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Muncie residents might be wondering who's calling the shots these days at their city street department.
The department's superintendent is Duke Campbell. But he has been on medical leave for months. And his likely replacement has started filling a different vacancy at the street department even as he continues his job at the Delaware County Highway Department.
That replacement is Bill Chambers. The county's human resource director told the (Muncie) Star Press (http://tspne.ws/2oTWGIt ) that Chambers is making the juggling act work by calling in to his new city job and using vacation days. He remains covered by county insurance.
Meanwhile, Campbell's city-issued truck remains has remained parked at his assistant superintendent's home - exempting one trip to Florida. Assistant Superintendent Donnie Wright says the trip was official city business.
