Suburban Chicago man arrested in the death of Berwyn couple
BERWYN, Ill. (AP) - A suburban Chicago man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of an elderly couple.
Authorities said Friday that Roger Scoby of Schaumburg has confessed in the death of 70-year-old Tommie Moore and her husband, 67-year-old Ira Moore. Police say physical evidence also links Scoby to the crime.
The Moores were found dead in their Berwyn home last week. Both had been shot in the dead. The wife also was stabbed multiple times in the torso.
Berwyn police say the 40-year-old Scoby was known to the couple. They used his services as a transport driver to a nearby hospital. He had gone to the house last Friday to drop something off.
Detective Thomas Tate says Scoby's motive for the attack was vague, adding the suspect says he simply lost control.
