Softball: Theobald's homer powers Kaneland

A 5-run third inning powered Kaneland to an 8-4 win at Morris on Thursday in Northern Illinois Big XII East action.

Hannah Theobald led the Knights (6-4-1, 2-0), going 3-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBI and 3 runs scored. Hailey Roach tripled and scored a run, Maddy Wheatley doubled and drove in a run, and Natalie Kraemer went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Aly Jesionowski pitched the first five innings, allowing 2 earned runs while striking out four. Emilee Erickson pitched the final two scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts.

Neuqua Valley 9, St. Charles East 1: The Saints (7-2) fell behind 5-0 after two innings and never got going in an Upstate Eight loss.

Maddy Stout had 2 of St. Charles East's 7 hits. Rylee Stout had the only RBI, driving in Delaney Devor in the fifth inning.

Rolling Meadows 15, Elgin 2: Nayelli Sanchez went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Neredia Rosas was 1-for-2 for the Maroons (0-4).
