Chair Yoga class helps those with injuries

Those with osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and back injuries can experience the full benefit of yoga through Elmhurst Park District's chair yoga class, which uses modified movements.

The class focuses on improving breath and lung capacity, posture and core strength, joint flexibility and range of motion. Classes conclude with guided relaxation and meditation.

Instructor Colleen Koziara has more than 15 years of experience in the senior health care industry and is certified in gentle, chair and modified yoga.

The hourlong class, for ages 50 and older, is offered at The Abbey, 407 W. St. Charles Road, Elmhurst, and meets at 2:30 p.m. Mondays, April 10 to May 1, as well as 8:30 a.m. Wednesdays, April 19 to May 10. The fee is $39 for Abbey members, $44 for others.
