Answer is enforcement not more gun control
I am writing in response to Rich Franke's letter of March 28. Sir, I too sympathize with you on all the gun killings in our country but the answer is not more gun control. We already have background checks, waiting periods, bans on semi-auto wrongly named assault weapons, yet the shootings go on.
Gun control is like stopping good drivers from buying cars because we have drunken drivers. All gun control does is create burdens on law-abiding gun owners.
We have banned heroin use, LSD use, opium use, and still these drugs cause more deaths than guns. Mmmm, bans don't seem to work do they?
You see there are no background checks in back alleys, cars, street corners or straw purchases, criminals selling to criminals and all the other places the bad guys buy guns, So more regulation only concerns those non-drunken drivers or law abiding gun owners. All the gun control in the world will not stop anything. It targets the wrong people.
Just Google "England's disarmament" and see what happened there when they took away the good guys' guns, What we need is to enforce gun violations by criminals. Don't let them out in five years to do it again. He will head to the same alley to get another gun while the honest citizen who needs the gun for protection is waiting three days, signing forms, being checked by the feds etc., etc., etc.
Which sign would you want by your local school? "No Guns Allowed" or "Armed Staff - Any Attempt To Harm Children Will Be Met With Deadly Force,"
All the gun control in the world will never stop the bad guy, ask any police officer, Instead write for more enforcement - that will do something,
