Missing Barrington student found unharmed

A 10-year-old girl who went missing this afternoon from her school playground in Barrington Hills has been located, according to the Barrington Area Unit School District 220.

District spokeswoman Morgan Delack said Tara Gutzmer, a student at Countryside Elementary School, was found apparently unharmed about 3 p.m. Tuesday. Medical personnel are evaluating Tara as a precaution, Delack said.

Tara walked off the school playground earlier this afternoon. Delack said officials aren't at this time able to say where she was found.

Police from Barrington and Barrington Hills called houses in the area to alert them and the school district told district parents about the missing girl using text messages, emails and posts to social media at about 2 p.m.
