Nine arrested after shot fired near Arlington Heights hotel

Arlington Heights police arrested nine individuals at a hotel Friday night after hearing a gunshot, officials said.

Department officials in a news release said that three suspects were initially taken into custody around 9:30 p.m. Friday in a parking lot near a hotel on Algonquin Road near Arlington Heights Road after officers heart a gunshot.

Additional information they gleaned led police to find additional suspects inside a hotel room on the 100 block of Algonquin Road, who refused to respond to communication efforts by police.

Arlington Heights officers activated the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System, where members of departments from across the region traveled to the area and officers secured the perimeter of the area.

Officials said six suspects eventually came out of the room and were taken into police custody, and police recovered the gun.

Deputy Chief Mike Hernandez said in an email that the investigation is ongoing and charges are not expected soon.

So far, police have not released the identifies of the suspects.
