Elgin League forum especially helpful
From Feb. 9 through March 23, the Rutland-Dundee Townships Committee of the League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area hosted six Candidate Forums for various contested local races.
In particular, please extended a warm "thank you" to Carol Grom for organizing the events and serving as moderator. Those candidates who took the time to participate in the forums and field voter questions are also to be commended.
Candidates gave voters an opportunity to get acquainted with how they would manage our property tax dollars. Candidates also offered voters a choice in the governance of their local services.
Hopefully, registered voters who cast ballots based on yard sign name recognition will be more discerning and attend candidate forums in the future.
What a great learning experience the LWVEA has to offer.
