Candidate will move Villa Park forward
I am writing with regard to the upcoming election for Villa Park Village President.
I had the honor to serve the village for over two decades - as village president, village trustee, chamber of commerce president and as a member of various village boards and commissions.
While I am no longer a resident of Villa Park, my heart will always be in Villa Park - the place where I raised my children and resided for more than 35 years.
Of the three candidates, Trustee Albert Bulthuis is the clear choice to serve as village president. He has served with distinction since 2007 as a member of the village board. I had the pleasure of serving with him while I was president. He has the professionalism, intellect and temperament necessary to be an effective village president.
Additionally, Trustee Bulthuis has always been easily accessible to his constituents and willing not only to listen to their concerns, but to bring those concerns to the village board. The village president not only presides over board meetings and serves as Liquor Commissioner, but represents Villa Park on the DuPage Public Safety Communications board of directors, travels to Springfield and Washington, D.C. to lobby on the village's behalf and works proactively to attract and retain local businesses.
I believe that Trustee Bulthuis will move the village forward - aggressively seeking state and federal funds for infrastructure repairs and beautification projects while at the same time retaining the unique small town character of our beautiful Garden Village.
