Batavia Lions to host 40th annual pancake breakfast April 8

The Batavia Lions Club invites the community to its 40th annual Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 8, in Shannon Hall at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. in Batavia.

The all-you-care-to-eat breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, milk coffee and orange juice. Cost is $7; $3 for children age 3 to 12; or free for children younger than age 3.

The Lions are raising funds to assist with vision services for the Batavia community. There has always been a need to help children when exams and glasses are not affordable, but recently it seems that the number of adults they are helping has spiked.

At the breakfast, free vision screening will be offered for children, 6 months or older, as well as adults, who will receive a printed report at the time of screening.

For information on the pancake breakfast, contact Dave Burdelak at (630) 879-8289.

Families may want to swing over for pancakes before the park district's Easter Egg Hunt, which starts at 10 a.m. at West Main Community Park, 40W101 W. Main St.

Staff will divide kids into age groups at 9:45 a.m., and the hunt will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Be sure to be on the lookout for special prize eggs!

Families are encouraged to come early to take a photo with the Easter Bunny. In the spirit of the event, bring a nonperishable food item or paper product to be donated to the Batavia Food Pantry. The egg hunt will be held rain or shine.
