Elgin Twp. seniors need your help

I am normally not keen on any referendum or the like that incurs a tax adjustment, however I'd like to voice my opinion regarding Tuesday's referendum for the Elgin Township seniors.

The senior population is growing at an alarming rate and so many services are needed for many of these people. From homebound seniors receiving home delivered meals to elder abused seniors from family members and others, some of these folks will get turned away as things move forward.

This referendum asks Elgin Township residents to help with these services costs and the request is so minimal. If your home is valued at $150,000, the tax fee is just $1 a month. This small amount from you will make a big difference to so many older folks of which you will be one someday. If you are not a senior now, you will be soon. Seniors are the reason that we are here.

I urge you and your friends and neighbors to help this need and cause by voting "yes" on the referendum for seniors. It is the last thing on the ballot, however I did early voting at the well-run Elgin Township facility and I did mine backward making it the first vote I cast due to its importance to me.
