Atmosphere of cooperation in Geneva

Our family supports Kevin Burns for Mayor of Geneva and agrees with this endorsement by The Daily Herald.

We have lived in Geneva for 15 years, and have always been pleased to see Mr. Burns at various public and private functions: speaking at the Memorial Day tribute at West Side Cemetery, introducing acts at Swedish Days, congratulating homeowners who have won historic preservation awards at City Hall presentations, attending funerals of family members of Geneva's employees and commission members as well as his ribbon cutting at the grand openings of new businesses in town.

He is an energetic, truthful and gracious man who is proud of our city. Mr. Burns has been a positive leader who conducts himself in a professional manner and has greatly contributed to the success of both Geneva's business districts our residential neighborhoods.

In his terms as mayor, Mr. Burns has reduced Geneva's debt by 45 percent, has created a strong working relationship with neighboring towns, has presented and passed 15 balanced city budgets, created the Art for All student art program at city hall and fostered excellence in accountability and finance reporting as evidenced by awards given to Geneva for the last several years.

Kevin Burns' plans for Geneva's future include revitalization of the East State Street corridor, light industrial development of the Geneva's Southeast Corridor which can bring jobs and broaden our tax base, and affordable housing, in part, for Geneva seniors.

And, perhaps his most important attribute as Geneva's mayor is the respect he has for us residents and our city employees. He courteously listens to what people have to say and values their opinions. This has created an atmosphere of cooperation which is most important to the quality of life for both Geneva residents and employees.
