Why reluctant to dig into Russia ties?
I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, my father and grandfather were career military men, and I am a Gold Star Mom. On March 3, I attended Congressman Hultgren's veteran's forum held at the Geneva American Legion.
While I appreciate the congressman's efforts in support of veterans, today I write with my concerns regarding our current administration. Last month, Congressman Hultgren issued a news release wherein he is quoted as saying "I remain very concerned over accusations of Russian involvement and interference in American affairs." You continued, "We cannot and will not let this stand, and I will be actively working with my colleagues in Congress to look into the matter thoroughly."
Further, in a May 2013 news release the congressman stated in part: "As if we needed further evidence of the extreme length this President and his Administration are will to go in order to put their political interests above all else this most recent scandal … removes all doubt.
"These actions … exacerbate the deep mistrust many Americans already hold … and complicate efforts to enact comprehensive … reform. These actions are all emblematic of the growing arrogance and disregard for the law seen by this Administration."
The aforementioned comments were made with regard to the prior administration and the Internal Revenue Service's targeting of conservative leaning groups. As you can see, by omitting the reference to the IRS, this statement could just as easily apply to President Trump's administration.
With the most recent events associated with this administration, I am extremely concerned that Congressman Hultgren and his colleagues seem reluctant to secure adequate information regarding this administration's connection to Russia and would like to see a full investigation regarding any and all involvement by the president, his administration or others close to him.
