Softball: Corilla whiffs 15 in Streamwood win

Taylyr Corilla struck out 15 batters and allowed just 3 hits Tuesday as Streamwood opened its softball season with a 5-0 nonconference win over Addison Trail.

Corilla also had 2 hits including a double while Becky Roncone had 2 triples and 2 RBI, Rebecca Daley 2 hits and Melissa Hart 2 RBI for the Sabres.

Dundee-Crown 2, Belvidere 1: Deanna Origer had 3 hits including a solo home run in the sixth inning as well as a double to help the Chargers win their season opener. Winning pitcher Sydney Ruggles (3 hits, 7 Ks, 1 BB) added 2 hits for D-C while Andrea Conway had a double and an RBI.

Sycamore 10, Burlington Central 8: Kristina Ahlers (HR), Lindsay Jamrozek (2 hits, 2B) and Gretchen Schrubbe (2 doubles) led the Rockets' offense in this nonconference loss. Brittany Parks was the losing pitcher for BC (1-1).

Huntley 14, Harlem 9: Autumn Kasal had 5 hits including a double and 3 RBI, Teagan O'Reilly had 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI and Breann Weiss added 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead Huntley (2-0) to a nonconference win. Winning pitcher Tiffany Giese added 2 hits for the Red Raiders while Rylie Porretto had 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

DeKalb 11, Elgin 0: Alexis Ruiz and Kacy Perfors had Elgin's only hits in its season-opening loss.

Plano 9, Aurora Christian 2: Janae Holloway had a double for Aurora Christian.
