Girls soccer: Huntley, Burlington Central both victorious

Hannah Scholer scored on a direct kick in the 70th minute Tuesday to lift the Huntley girls soccer team to a season-opening 1-0 Fox Valley Conference win over Crystal Lake Central.

Abbey Brown had 7 saves in goal for the Red Raiders.

Burlington Central 4, Johnsburg 0: In the Kishwaukee River Conference, Kyrsten Pellikan, Jordan King, Anna McMahon and Zoey Kollhoff scored goals for the Rockets. Megan Majewski, Kollhoff and Elizabeth Gousios each had assists. Abbi Ciganek and Erin Rafferty split time in goal for BC but neither had to make a save.

CL South 5, Belvidere North 0: Courtney Sengstock had a hat trick and an assist while Jessica Schoenfeldt scored twice to lead Crystal Lake South to a nonconference win. Schoenfeldt added 2 assists while Jenna Ross and Nicole Edwards had one each. Annika Sevcik had 4 saves in goal.
