Canto Zenzero brings Classical Sound to Local Venue

Canto Zenzero, Italian for "The Singing Gingers", is a group of talented, classically trained,

red-headed, female vocalists. With a wide repertoire of sound, these three singers bring class, style, art and pizzaz to a genre that is timeless. All three singers are classically trained sopranos but have a wide range of vocal talent making the trio ring with harmony.

Kathleen Monson, spokesperson for the group, says "We started out singing in New York as a way to be able to showcase our new repertoires and perform for those that were interested in our art."

The group has performed three times in the last year, and are excited about where the journey will take them. They perform various styles including American folk songs, opera, musical theater and traditional Irish tunes.

These three singers boast a long list of accomplishments including performances in Le Nozze di Figaro, Die Fledermaus, Tannhäuser, Alcina, Under the O verture, Brigadoon and A Christmas Carol. Being able to work with companies such as OperaRox, U tah Lyric Opera, The New York Philharmonic, On Site Opera, Opera West, Con necticut Lyric Opera, and Ch icago Choral Scholars. Performing both nationally and internationally these ladies are sure to delight and entertain you as they introduce you to great music!

"A versatile musician, Riko Higuma is a highly sought after piano collaborator and a sensitive chamber musician, performing with the world's leading artists throughout the United States,Europe, Russia and Japan." Ms. Higuma also is the pianist of the acclaimed ensemble group, The Zodiac Trio, and has been claiming top prizes at numerous international competitions. She exercises this talent both in her employment with the Manhattan School of Music and in her accompaniment of Canto Zenzero.

This trio is sure to delight and inspire you with their artistic expressions and creative performance. Come enjoy a night of music March 31 at 7 p.m. at St Paul United Church of Christ 144 E Palatine Road, Palatine, IL. Admission is free; however, donations are welcome.
