Police: Drunken Elk Grove woman hit squad car

A 44-year-old Elk Grove Village woman faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield from a private driveway after her vehicle struck a police vehicle and injured the officer inside early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Kerry A. Stevens is scheduled to appear in court Friday, April 7, in Rolling Meadows, according to Elk Grove police.

She and the police officer involved in the crash were taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, the 2015 Ford Explorer driven by the officer was southbound on Arlington Heights Road, approaching the south entrance of the Elks Crossing Shopping Center, when it collided with the 2006 Jeep Laredo driven by Stevens as it was exiting the shopping center onto Arlington Heights Road.
