Celtic Fest continues through Saturday in Barrington

Celtic Fest opened Thursday night in a large heated tent in the 200 block of Park Avenue in downtown Barrington.

The three-day festival, in its seventh year, resumes in the tent at 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday. It's also at McGonigal's Pub, 105 S. Cook St.

Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to visit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life booth in the tent and donate to the group.

The agenda includes live Irish and rock music, five separate Irish dance troupe performances, retail merchant The Irish Boutique, bagpipers, live DJs, and food and beverages in both the outdoor tent and the pub.

All food and beverage transactions in the tent will be cash only; credit cards can be used in the pub.

Free parking is available at the Metra station and elsewhere downtown.

Details, including directions, entertainment schedules and information on the participants, are available at and on Facebook at
