Girls water polo: Potgieter, Barrington win at Fremd

Barrington's girls water polo team picked up a key early victory in the Mid-Suburban West by winning 15-10 on Wednesday at Fremd.

Andrea Potgieter scored a game-high 8 goals for the Fillies, who improved to 2-0 in the MSL West. Nicole Runtz had 4 goals and Heidi Pallan 2, and Alyssa Hawe made 11 saves in goal for Barrrington.

Senior Emily Kini paced Fremd with 6 goals and Paulina Pappas had 2.

Elk Grove 12, Wheeling 4: The Grens squared their East Division record at 1-1 behind big efforts from Alyssa Bonilla (4 goals, 6 steals), Kaylee Hatfield (3 goals) and Hannah Sallenback (2 goals, 2 steals).

Prospect 10, Rolling Meadows 5: Gracie Dix (3 goals), Colleen Doyle (2) and Megan Pfeiffer (2) helped the Knights moved to 2-0 in the MSL East.

Betsy Zanocco scored twice and made 16 saves in two and a half quarter in goal. One of the goals from Zanocco was thrown from her goalie position; Maggie Goodwin also scored twice for the Mustangs.

St. Ignatius 10, St. Viator 3: Ritarose Battin and Julie Warren score for the Lions in MCAC play.

Palatine 10, Hoffman Estates 1: Meghan Woell and Martika Theis scored 2 goals apiece, and Woell also made 9 goalie saves to help the Pirates to an MSL West victory at home.

Conant 8, Schaumburg 6: Aly Wooley (4 goals) and Nia Tsoulos (3) had most of the scoring Conant in MSL West play, and both also had 4 steals as Cougars goalie Cam Rosas made 19 saves.

Hannah Pearson and Brianna Vasquez had 2 goals each to pace the Saxons.

Maine West 10, Lake Forest 9 (OT): Kristen Burger came up with 7 goals and Anastasiya Sahayda had 2 as the Warriors claimed a nonconference victory.
