Boys water polo: Barrington grabs decisive West win
Kyle Mitchell scored a game-best 8 goals to help Barrington's boys water polo team to a 25-6 victory over visiting Fremd in a Mid-Suburban West matchup Wednesday.
Brother John (5) and Steven (4) Fischer also provided plenty of offense and Jack Krieps stopped 14 shots as the Broncos grabbed an early share of the divisional lead.
Fremd got 2 goals apiece from Kenny Barry and Derek Warnstedt.
Elk Grove 10, Wheeling 1: Amar Patel (4 goals) and John Noonan (3) led the scoring as the Grens improved to 2-0 in the MSL East.
Palatine 14, Hoffman Estates 5: Senior Dylan White had 5 goals and juniors Sean O'Brien and Jerome Gabriel came up with 3 each as the visiting Pirates earned their first MSL West win of the season.
Luis Segura stopped 6 shots in goal for Palatine (2-6 overall).
Conant 11, Schaumburg 3: The Cougars won for the second time in as many chances against an MSL West foe to join Barrington as an early divisional leader.
Buffalo Grove 10, Hersey 6: The visiting Bison (3-1, 2-0) didn't allow a goal in the third quarter in picking up an MSL East decision.
Eid Shahatit, Daniel Kovol, Kacper Aniecko, Kevin Carr and Billy Wade had 2 goals apiece for the Bison.
James Lawrence led Hersey (2-2, 1-1) with 3 goals.
Prospect 15, Rolling Meadows 3: Abe Elfar scored a team-best 3 goals as the visiting Knights scored 5 first-period goals and got another 6 in the third quarter to earn an MSL East victory.
