8th Grade Libertyville Lady Cats Win NIGFBA Championship!

The 8th Grade Libertyville Lady Cats basketball team won the championship game of the Northern Illinois Girls Feeder Association end of year tournament on March 12th at the Libertyville Sports Complex! The Lady Cats outlasted sixteen teams in the championship bracket by defeating Hersey, Wauconda and Fremd to get to the championship game against Maine South, winning an exciting match-up by a score of 37-36.

This is the fourth consecutive NIGFBA title for the Lady Cats, having won in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Excluding tournament play, the 8th grade Lady Cats posted an outstanding 97-4 record over the last four years in the feeder program.

Following the championship game, there was an All Star game in which each team in NIGFBA selected a player to represent their team. The Libertyville Lady Cats selected Lauren Huber to compete in the All Star game.

Team members will all attend Libertyville High School in the fall as the Class of 2021.
