Why Trump kept gun plan on the down low
How come no fanfare when President Trump rolled back restrictions for gun access? It makes no sense to roll back restrictions that prevent people with serious mental illnesses to go out and buy guns.
The people, who now have easier access to guns, have serious mental illnesses that qualify them for disability and have difficulty managing their own affairs.
President Trump signed a bill that rolls back regulations restricting gun access of people with serious mental illnesses on Feb. 28. This event was an opportunity for a photo op but he did not take advantage of this opportunity. He signed this roll back bill because that is what the NRA wanted him to do. And it seems his office wanted to keep this low profile with no big photo op. Could it be they know that more Americans are killed by guns in homicides occurring between husband and wife, and in other disputes.
We are so fearful of "Islamic Terrorists" but actually have less chance to be killed by foreign born terrorists, than by other Americans who go into movie theaters or schools or shopping malls.
It has been stated that the majority of people who kill do not have mental illnesses and that what we need is better mental health treatment, and yes, we do need better mental health treatment with increased access to mental health treatment.
However, it still makes no sense for a person with a serious mental illness to be able to buy a gun and have easier access to guns. Why not make access to mental health treatment easier? This is scary for parents and teachers and those of us in the general public because we know this is a bad idea and so does the Trump Administration, that is why they had no fanfare.
