Media should show less bias in word choice

The media (of whatever form and whether local or national) would be well-advised to show less bias in how they express (or not) certain words.

When they say "immigrant," for instance, they ought to express whether that is a "legal" or an "illegal" immigrant, since such a person could be either but certainly is one or the other; and it's only fair (unbiased) to tell us which kind of immigrant it is.

Also (and there's unfortunately been a more recent "wronging" of what to some extent had been "righted" when called out a few years ago), if the media is going to say "pro-choice" for the one side, then they ought to say "pro-life" for the other. If they want to say "anti-abortion" for the pro-lifers, then they ought to say "anti-life" for the pro-choicers.

Since the Daily Herald has control over its own reporting, and certainly should clarify or correct what it gets from the AP, UPI or other "outside" sources, I and many others, I'm sure, will be looking at what we see in your paper that at least removes some of these biases. (By the way, a biased person or media source can be identified not only by what and how he/she does say but also by what he/she doesn't say.)
