Being unyielding in my defense of personal property rights, civil rights, and liberty. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. We have no property tax directly from the Village. Property taxes in general are far too high.We do collect revenue from sales tax. I think sales tax is too high, but not as offensive as property taxes are.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? We only have Police under our control. I like our police department very much. Our police chief and officers are very accessible, and can respond quickly to our residents concerns. Our leaders past and present have worked very hard to fully fund our police department and with the same focus I confidentially believe our department will be around for a long time. I would like to see additional funding for training.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?There is very little that can be trimmed from our budget, but if forced to choose, legal fees. We are beholden to Springfield for our funding, and that system is fundamentally flawed, filled with bloated bureaucracy, and corruption. Our money belongs to our residents, and it is the state that should come hat in hand asking for money. Our infrastructure needs a lot of attention and we must address it. A wishful spend would be consulting to attract sales tax businesses to our Village. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Instead of chasing traditional businesses, I would like to see us pursue cottage industries. Examples would be pastured raised farming, sustainable agriculture, locally owned speciality shops and manufacturing, and provide incentives for our highly educated demographic to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit. Think local. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Village image and brand. The political infighting has left an embarrassing mark on our reputation. Who we are has not been clearly defined, and owning an identity our residents can be proud of, and our neighbors envy would be a great achievement. Campton Hills is such a unique place with amazing people and beautiful landscape. I see so much potential. Let's build a climate where our neighbors come and enjoy staying, while setting an example of what power local economies can have. Build your business dream in Campton Hills, we will support you. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Ron PaulWhat is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Hard work and honestyIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Traveling the world in my 20sWhat was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Science. Easily has helped me never getting tired of looking for answers. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Believe in yourself and dream big, own your destiny.
