I am very passionate about our community, our environment, and government transparency. I have spent my career helping businesses find solutions to their problems by listening and thinking creatively and collaboratively. I would bring that same approach to the position of board president. I pledge to listen to all residents, and work together to ensure Barrington Hills remains a unique and valuable community. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. There is no sales tax in Barrington Hills. Property taxes are, in general, very high. Barrington Hills is in four counties and two school districts, so taxes vary. The property tax portion that our Village government controls is less than twenty percent of a resident's property tax bill. School districts represent almost sixty percent of resident's tax bills. Nonetheless, our property taxes are high and need to be addressed. We need to set better priorities to manage the money we currently receive.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our fire and EMT services are excellent, despite the fact that we are in 5 fire protection districts. With the new development on our southern boarder, we have a new threat to our water supply from chemical spills. Our police department has been under funded and under staffed.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?The current levy has not increased in 10 years, and the total remains enough to provide residents' with quality village services. Mathematics is a foundation of all rational reasoning. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Start with your passions; grow through hard work.
