I was born in Medinah and have lived here for 53 years. I attend school board meetings at the Elementary and High School. In 20 years on the Medinah Park District board, I missed less then 5 meetings out of 240. I have been involved in many committees that improved parks and recreation at Medinah while keeping tax's low.Elected offices held: Board of Commissioners Medinah Park District 20 years. President of the Board last 5 years.Questions Answers Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?I am running for re-election because I have always enjoyed the Parks. As a child I was involved in many of the programs and have always enjoyed them. My children went to Pre-School at the Park District and grew up going to the sled hill. I just enjoy being on the Park Board and working with other commissioners to keep the Park District in great shape.How do you assess the state of the district's finances? What, if any, changes do you propose to alter the district's financial picture, whether through cost reduction or revenue increases? Please be as specific as possible on where you would propose cutting or how you would propose increasing revenue.The Park District is in great financial shape. Careful planning and budgeting is critical to proving the best service to the community and not raising taxes.What programs aren't paying for themselves? Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?We are always making adjustments to programs based on community needs and costs.Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them?We just finishing all our Park improvements. We do not have any unmet recreation needs at this time.If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.Working on the Master Plans for the Park District, rewriting the personnel policy and staying on budget.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?The big issue is being able to change the programs to the ever changing needs of the community.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Pope Francis.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Tell the truth.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Travel.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Physical Education and Health.It is what I teach now.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Be happy.
