From 1994 to 2011 I served as Postmaster in several facilities where I managed multi-million dollar annual budgets and consistently decreased operating expenses through efficiency enforcement. In 2011, I was appointed Commissioner to the Bensenville Community Development Committee, where I have committed myself to the redevelopment and revitalization of Bensenville. I have also been a active participant in the updating of the Village of Bensenville Comprehensive Economic Plan.I have been a active member of my communities serving as Vice President of Saint Gertrude's School Board and Coached various youth soccer and basketball programs. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.Only a little over 10% of homeowner's total property tax bill goes to the Village. The remaining portions are divided into several other taxing districts including DuPage County, Forest Perserve, Airport Authority, Township, Park District, Fire Protection, Library and the largest portion to the School Districts. We need to work together with the DuPage County officials to reduce real estate taxes for the residents that are most severely impacted by O'Hare Noise. We must make economical development a top priority, by encouraging developers to build upscale housing, hotels and restaurants to serve O'Hare customers and travelers to and from O'Hare on the Elgin O'Hare tollway expansion.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?Bensenville has a new local Police Station and provides excellent training and equipment to the members of our police force to serve the people of Bensenville. I believe the expansion of the Neighborhood Watch program would enhance and assist the local police department in protecting the residents and business communities of Bensenville.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?As a village Trustee I would be committed to using tax payer funds responsibly, avoiding wasteful spending. I will thoroughly review line item spending and question any expense that appears unusual or excessive. I would like to see additional funds and/or efforts identified for senior citizen services, such as free lawn care and snow removal services, expanded local dial-a-bus services, and monthly village sponsored recreational events. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Implement a free senior citizen lawn care and snow removal program. Services would be provided by local high school students and scouts, completing community service hours. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? One of the major issues facing Bensenville is the noise from plane traffic to and from O'Hare, we must continue to work with the City of Chicago and neighboring communities, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to permanently institute the "Fly Quiet"Noise Rotation Program. Bensenville also needs to maximize the new opportunities and income streams which are and will continue to be available due to its proximity to O'Hare and the expansion of the Elgin O'Hare Tollway. This would include attracting and retaining businesses, hotels, and restaurants. Capitalizing on these new developments is important to maintain and reduce property tax levels. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Bill Gates for his innovation creativity and charitable contributions to Society. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Understand that true success comes from helping others. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I wish I had spent more time with the people I love, and less pursuing my dreams. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History because it demonstrates the greatness of the nation we live in and provides an opportunity to learn from our mistakes. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Constantly search for ways to grow and get better throughout your life.
