With this effort, I gained an intensive knowledge of needs and concerns of the residents and have been their advocate to the Village of Bensenville board in the past six years. Based on shared opinions and consensus, my goal was to establish a successful platform to present to the Village. Because of my efforts, I was later asked to fill a vacancy of the Bensenville Board of Trustees in June, 2016 and was approved by a unanimous vote. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain. The Board of Trustees passed a balanced budget for 2017 with no increase in tax levy. This is due in a large part by the high occupancy rate established in commercial and industrial properties by businesses who only choose to locate in well run communities with great value and great potential. Future opportunities for our business residents will be enhanced tremendously by the construction of a western access route to O'Hare Airport and the Elgin-O'Hare Tollway, which will increase revenue to the Village and allow us to provide lower tax rates and expanded services to both residents and businesses.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns? Our Police Department is one of the finest in DuPage County based on current studies. The combination of our new Police Station / Emergency Management Facility (2015) and the superior talented staff and leadership has improved the efficiency of our highly-respected law enforcement agency. We are preparing for the future as well through the consolidation of emergency communication functions through a shared modern facility in Addison and are working with DuPage County to develop a seamless administrative process for police in dealing with local and state prosecutions.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?As a Village Trustee, I can testify to a lean budget for 2017, especially in regard to our staffing level, this does require our staff to do more with less "â#128;œ as government should. One aspect of our village administration that we do need to address is the retention of qualified staff members. Although there is always turnover in any staff operation, we need to make sure our staff salaries and work environment are comparable to other employers who may be trying our well-trained staff members. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?The Village of Bensenville has a very high degree of diversity, I seen this in the committees that I currently chair, such as Interfaith and the Youth Coalition. One challenge I find is that the lack programs promoted by local government entities to address these issues. To accomplish this I would propose a commission to study and develop specific goals to enlist specific numbers of young people into constructive activities which will improve the overall quality of life in our village. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I am interested in pursuing solutions to noise pollution that makes daily life in some areas of the village difficult. We need better noise insulation of homes under high air traffic routes. The FAA and the City of Chicago are working off a 20 year study for noise abatement, yet this study has not been updated. I would like to require the inclusion of our residents and consultants in an updated study by the FAA and I also intend to participate to make sure it gets done. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.David Cameron persistence to battle for a cause and the courage to step aside when defeated. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?To be a responsible and contributing member of societyIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?To spend more Quality time with my family, being the main support for the family, did not always afford me the time. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math and History, math taught me Logic and history taught me learn from societies mistakes and not repeat the same mistakesIf you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Never stop learning in life and to share your life's blessing with others.
