I will work hard with the members of the community to hear their concerns on all issues. Also, as a successful business owner, I will attract new business to keep taxes to a minimum. We will preserve Lake County's oldest village, while adding opportunity for the town to grow together. What is your opinion of your community's present level of local sales and property taxes? Is the tax just right, too low or too high? Explain.I would never say that sales tax and property tax are too low. The lower the tax the more money in residents pockets. However, we do have a depleting budget. So we will need to raise money through community events and fundraisers to keep the property tax at bay. I will work hard to make that happen.Rate the efficiency of your town's police and fire coverage. Are the departments well prepared for the next decade? What, if anything, should be changed? Do you have specific public safety concerns?I think the village did a good job obtaining a lower annual salary working along with the Grayslake Police Department. I want to create trust and transperency between our residents and the police. I would start that process by having "Meet our Hero's" events where the community could come meet the local police and firemen. Hopefully then, Hainesville could become a leader in rebuilding the trust and respect between the youth/officer relationship at a young age.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I will look over the budget line by line to see the operational costs of the village. I will say being a small business owner you always have to budget and look over finances to never over spend. I will cut wasteful spending. That will give the village more money to spend attracting new business and to bring new ideas to Hainesville, which we desperately need. What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?Building the community from the ground up. I feel communities have lost some decency and respect for one another. I would love to have a Hainesville celebration day that gives children the opportunity to have fun and families to unite with each other. This also gives the opportunity for local business to come out and make an impact on the community. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? To fix the wetland issues. We can't have residents yards flooding. I also want to put pressure on the state and county to speed up road construction projects. They last for years while residents suffer from improper stop lights that cause extremely slow travel in everyday commute. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Bernie Sanders. His honesty and his ability to fight for what is right. Agree with his policies or not, he works hard for the people. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Hard work and to respect one another. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I think everyone would like a few do overs. However, those mistakes helped make me the better person I am today. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?English and History. I love writing stories and poetry. I also enjoy History, because all of my family that fought for our freedoms today. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?To be happy. Enjoy everyday and find something you love to do. Love you, Tyler!
