Endorsement: Kopka for Oakbrook Terrace Ward 2 alderman

For Oakbrook Terrace Ward 2 alderman candidate Jessica Kopka, it all started with a desire to raise chickens. Her first taste of local politics started by trying to change an ordinance so she could raise chickens on her property. She followed the proper procedures, but the village board did not change the ordinance. Kopka is running against incumbent Ward 2 Alderman Frank Vlach. Vlach, who the city clerk says has no email account, declined to participate in our endorsement interview, complete a candidate questionnaire or even return a phone call. Kopka feels there is a lack of communication from the village board with the residents of Oakbrook Terrace, especially when it comes to the controversial red-light camera. Oak Brook is suing Oakbrook Terrace over the instillation of the light. Questions she has about the red-light camera have not been answered adequately, in her opinion, by the current board. We understand her concerns. A breath of fresh air is needed in Ward 2. Jessica Kopka is endorsed.
