Boy, 4, becomes 3rd to die from Indianapolis house fire

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indianapolis firefighters say a 4-year-old boy has died from injuries he sustained in a house fire that earlier killed his grandfather and another family member.

They said Tuesday that Cayden Yates died the day before at an Indianapolis hospital after having been injured in the fire on the city's south side.

The fire Friday night earlier killed 51-year-old Jeff Sullivan and another grandson, 10-month-old Damon East. Firefighters say witnesses reported Sullivan ran to the boys' bedroom and took the infant to a window but ignored pleas to jump or at least dropped the child to safety.

Firefighters rescued Cayden and found the bodies of Sullivan and Damon upstairs in the home.

Investigators have said an unattended space heater caused the fire.
