Guided Volo Bog tours underway

One-hour guided public tours of the Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside are available most Saturdays and Sundays about 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for individuals, families and small groups.

No reservations are needed, but visitors should call (815) 344-1294 ahead during questionable weather and for groups of 10 or more.

Plants and animals, including sandhill cranes and red-winged blackbirds, are emerging as spring approaches. Volo Bog State Natural Area is on Brandenburg Road west of Route 12 between routes 120 and 134.
