Thousands get home improvement questions answered in Arlington Heights

With spring quickly approaching, a crowd attended the 11th annual Arlington Home & Garden Show on Sunday at the Arlington International Racecourse hoping to find answers about home repair and enhancement projects.

Almost 10,000 people were expected to attend the two-day event in Arlington Heights featuring more than 180 home improvement vendors and gardening specialists answering questions.

"They represent everything related to home improvement for remodeling, repairing and beautifying your home," said Scott Hardesty, event manager for the Arlington Home & Garden Show. "This is a really big help for people looking to take on projects. This is a key aspect of this - people can actually meet the people behind the business."

Home specialists were available to talk about everything from windows, roofs, kitchens, bathrooms, to landscaping and lawn care.

Presentations were held on such topics as Trends in Kitchen Remodeling by Normandy Remodeling, Enhancing your Home's Curb Appeal by Bradford & Kent and The Art of Wine Pairing by PRP Wines.

An event highlight was the Hot Tub & Swim Spa Blowout Expo with 15,000 square feet of hot tubs, many them selling for half price.

"I'm thinking of kitchen, windows and general re-dos. I got a lot of questions answered," said Barb Verber of Arlington Heights after attending the show. "They give you a different perspective on what they have to offer."
