Nun run in South Elgin draws 150 people, raises $2,500
The young, the old and some nuns took to the neighborhood streets of the South Elgin subdivision of Thornwood Sunday morning for the third annual Run For The Nuns 5K Run/Walk.
The race raises money for several religious orders of nuns and the Healing Medical Mission that serves the people of Guatemala. This year the race collected around $2,500 from the roughly 150 race participants.
The race is part of the larger "Here I am Lord" conference at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles.
The winner of this years race was Pol Nabben of South Elgin, who finished with a time of 15:50.
Race director Christine Kmiec was glad for the mild weather and good turnout.
