Nintendo Switch Pro Controller works on PC

If you're sitting on the fence about also picking up the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, an extra incentive for doing so has been revealed. The Pro Controller also works on PC!

Eurogamer brought our attention to YouTube user DreWoof who managed to get his hands on the Pro Controller early. He demonstrates in the video below how it works with a PC. It won't be detected via USB, but seems to work perfectly when connected using Bluetooth.

As the video reveals, any PC game or software that supports game pads will work with the Pro Controller. The game you see running above is Super Smash Bros. Melee in the GameCube emulator called Dolphin, but DreWoof also states the pad works with Steam Big Picture mode, which opens up access to a lot of controller-friendly games.

A further video from DreWoof acts as a FAQ for the Pro Controller on PC. It also covers use of the controller with Android (iOS hasn't been tested).

As the Pro Controller costs $69.99, being able to use it as a PC game pad as well as for the Switch does help justify the price. Unfortunately, you can't plug it in to charge via USB while connecting it to your PC using Bluetooth, so you'll have to stop playing to recharge the battery. Maybe this could be fixed in future through software?
