NCH hosts fall risk screening clinic

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (February 27, 2017) - With 2.5 million older individuals being treated for fall injuries every year in hospital emergency departments across the nation, Northwest Community Healthcare (NCH) is hoping its free, fall-risk screening clinic may help cut down those numbers. NCH physical therapists will help individuals learn about their risk of falling and how they can keep themselves safe at home.

NCH's fall risk screening clinic is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, at the NCH Outpatient Center, 3300 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows. Individual appointments last approximately 30 minutes. Registration is required. The first 15 people to register will receive a free gift.

One out of five falls among older adults results in a serious injury, such as head trauma, hip fracture, a fractured wrist or a twisted or broken ankle, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). To sign up for this free clinic and learn what you can do to prevent falls, call HealthConnection at 847-618-4968 or register online at www.nch.org/events.
