Dundee Library's college bound series starts Wednesday

This spring, the Fox River Valley Public Library District will host three programs to assist students and their parents in researching college financial aid and scholarships.

All programs are free and will be held at the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Ave. (Route 68) in East Dundee.

The first in the series is "Prepare for the Rising Cost of College" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1. Each year, the price of college tuition rises higher than the annual inflation rate. With these steep increases, how can college bound families afford to pay for college? Thomas J. Jaworski of Quest College Consulting will share his expertise to breakdown the cost of college, explain changes to the financial aid process and how to find scholarships. This program is designed for both parents and students to help maximize their dollar for college.

On Wednesday, April 5, it will be "Behind the Curtain of the Financial Aid Process" at 7 p.m. What really goes on behind the scenes to determine what you will pay for college? Find out how financial aid officers really make their decisions on the size of your financial award. You will also discover creative, little-known ways to pay for college as you learn to navigate the maze of formulas, policies, and rules that determine college costs. Both parents are encouraged to attend.

It will be followed by "This Summer: Prepare for College" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 3. Summer break is a perfect opportunity to get ahead and prepare for college. In this presentation, Thomas Jaworski of Quest College Consulting will provide high school families with tips and advice on how present themselves to college admission officers. This program is designed for both parents and students to learn how to make it a productive summer.

To register, go to the library's online calendar at www.frvpld.info, call (847) 428-3661, press 3, or stop by the service desk in person.

The district serves residents of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin, Elgin, and Barrington Hills.
