Blown tires delay Florida-bound plane

Blown tires just before takeoff Monday afternoon delayed a Florida-bound 737 airplane for nearly three hours, according to a United Airlines spokeswoman.
United Airlines Flight 306 was scheduled to take off from O'Hare International Airport about 2 p.m. for Fort Meyers, Florida, when crew members detected the blown tires, said United spokeswoman Maddie King.
The blowouts occurred "early in the takeoff process," said King, adding the flight "never left the ground."
No one was injured and passengers began boarding other flights to Florida about 4:45 p.m. Monday, King said.
King did not have information about the age of the plane or its tires.
A maintenance team is investigating the cause of the blowouts, she said.
