Lake County officials plan summit on tolerance

Lake County State's Attorney Michael Nerheim, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor and other officials will meet in Grayslake on Tuesday to discuss ways to make the county a welcoming, inclusive community. The summit is set for 8 a.m. at the College of Lake County. The invitation-only session was prompted by the national increase in divisiveness, intolerance, and disrespectful actions, according to a news release from the state's attorney's office. A group called the Partnership for a Safer Lake County is participating, too.

'The Cherry Orchard' at CLC

A family on the edge of ruin and a country on the brink of revolution is the setting for the College of Lake County's theater department production of "The Cherry Orchard," written by Anton Chekhov. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. March 3, 4, 9 and 11; 2 p.m. March 5; and 10 a.m. March 10, for high school students at the Studio Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Reptile Rampage returns

Reptile Rampage, the annual spring fundraiser for the Wildlife Discovery Center in Lake Forest, is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the center, 1401 Middlefork Drive. The entrance fee is $10 per person, with kids under 3 free. Visitors can meet, handle and learn about reptiles. More than 150 snakes. lizards, turtles, tortoises and other reptiles from representatives of museums, universities, zoos, nature centers and private collections will be on hand. There also will be face painting, arts and other activities for kids. A silent auction will be ongoing throughout the day. Friends of Volo Bog board

Friends of Volo Bog, a charitable membership organization established in 1983, is seeking four people to serve on the board of directors. The group is devoted to the protection of Volo Bog and support of Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside. The board meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Thursday of each month except December and June. Database management, membership correspondence and grant application writing are preferred skills but others also are encouraged.
