Masked man robs Palatine-area gas station

Investigators with the Cook County Sheriff's Office are searching for a man they say robbed a gas station near Palatine at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The man, who was armed with a fixed-blade knife and wearing a mask, left with cash and cigarettes from the Mobil Gas Station at 1490 N. Quentin Road, near the intersection with Dundee Road, according to sheriff's spokesman Sophia Ansari.

Ansari said surveillance photos or security camera footage of the crime was not immediately available.
