St. Charles man charged in Elgin armed robbery
A 46-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with armed robbery after, police say, he entered an Elgin business Tuesday and threatened an employee with a weapon.
Officers arrested Robert L. Medlin, who lives on Thompson Street, at a home in the 300 block of South Drive in South Elgin, according to a news release.
Authorities responded at 2:50 a.m. to a business on the 300 block of South State Street, where a store clerk reported that a man had displayed a weapon and demanded cash. No one was injured.
Medlin is charged with armed robbery, a felony typically punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
A Kane County judge is expected to set his bond Wednesday.
