Elgin Alive Series to focus on city's new code enforcement program

The Elgin Community Network's "Elgin Alive Series" continues with "Introducing CODE 2.0 and the Code Compliance Academy" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in the Meadows Community Rooms A-B at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.

Neighborhood residents and neighborhood-based organizations are a valuable and largely untapped resource in making code enforcement more effective. The great majority of residents and organizations want their neighborhoods to be better, safer and cleaner places. They are the city's natural allies in the code enforcement process.

The City of Elgin, which recognizes the value of community involvement in stabilizing neighborhoods, is incorporating it into its code enforcement strategy.

Community Development Director Marc Mylott will introduce Elgin's code enforcement program, "Code 2.0, and the new Code Compliance Academy," a training program for citizens wanting to assist the city in addressing code compliance issues in their neighborhood and across Elgin.
