Chicago Mustangs sweep St. Louis with 7-5 win

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Backed by a hat trick by forward Taylor Bond, the Chicago Mustangs defeated St. Louis 7-5 at the Family Arena, completing a season sweep of the Ambush.

Bond, a native of St. Charles, Il., now leads the team with 28 goals. His performance included scoring the team's first two goals and drawing a shootout as he won a header with St. Louis sixth attacker midfielder Lucas Almeida at midfield.

Chicago midfielder Efrain "Wilo" Martinez scored on the shootout as he sidestepped keeper Casey Clark to put the game away at 7-5 with 29.9 seconds remaining against the Ambush (1-17).

The Mustangs (8-7) scored the first goal of the game for only the fifth time this season, and led the rest of the way. The Mustangs went up 3-0 with 11:56 left in the second quarter on a turn and goal from forward Osvaldo Rojas, assisted by midfielder Alonso "Negro" Sandoval.

The Mustangs host Dallas at 3:05 p.m. Sunday at Sears Centre Arena.
