Wheeling police serve seniors breakfast for 'Kindness' day

Wheeling police officers spent Friday morning serving up pancakes, sausage and desserts for seniors as part of Random Acts of Kindness Day.

Roughly 80 seniors showed up to eat and visit with a dozen police officers over breakfast at Wheeling Pavilion Senior Center, police Chief Jamie Dunne said.

"We were aware of the day, and as a group we talked about who in the community we could impact the most - what portion of the community has the least ability to interact with people," Dunne said.

The police department teamed up with the Knights of Columbus based out of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dunne said.

"In law enforcement, we're always looking for an opportunity to put ourselves out in the community in a non-stressful situation," Dunne said.
