Geneseo man, 40, charged in kidnapping of Erie couple
MORRISON, Ill. (AP) - A Geneseo man has been charged in the kidnapping of an Erie couple.
Sauk Valley Media (http://bit.ly/2kbWeXc ) reports 40-year-old Chad C. Schipper is charged with home invasion, kidnapping and two counts of aggravated kidnapping. Each of the charges carry six- to 30-year prison sentences.
Whiteside County Sheriff Kelly Wilhelmi says Schipper was arrested Thursday at 4:45 a.m. and taken to a local hospital after a high-speed chase with authorities ended with him crashing his car near Port Byron.
Wilhelmi says Constance and Larry VanOosten were found in a Geneseo home at 5 a.m. and immediately taken to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
Schipper will be taken to jail on a $1 million bond immediately after his release from the hospital.
It wasn't immediately clear if Schipper has an attorney. An investigation is ongoing.
